On April 16, Margaret Julia turned 5.
Sigh.
Why does 5 seem like such a big number compared to like, 4? Is it because I know she's starting kindergarten this fall? Is it because she's officially wearing clothes from the "big girl" section of the store and there is no more "T" after her size? Is it because no matter how hard I search, I can't find any more of those "toddler" dimples on her fingers?
Some days, I just want time to stop.
Maggie's birthday fell on a Monday (just like when she was born!) This was her "quick cake" for her birthday dinner at home. Birthday tradition says you can "order" whatever you want for dinner. Maggie asked for spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, and ... asparagus. OK!
The birthday girl!
Happy Birthday, to my beautiful Margaret Julia!
Maggie also had the option this year of having a "big" family birthday party or a small "friend" party- inviting FIVE friends (you know, because she's FIVE!) She quickly chose a "friend" party- and then we had the fun task of deciding on a theme. After narrowing it down, we decided to throw a "Tea Party." It was so much fun! The girls all came dressed in their fanciest clothes. We decorated bonnets and played games and finished it all off with a "ladies" lunch complete with real tea and cupcakes! Yum!
The table's all set for a tea party!
Decorating bonnets...
All finished!
Ladies' lunch...
The lilacs couldn't have bloomed at a better time!
