Door County

This past weekend we got to spend a fun "girl bacation" in Door County with Gramma. It was full of sunshine, lots of walking, and even more shopping! A great time was had by all- and so fun to share one of my favorite places with my little girls!
Cutie!

Another cutie....

My beautiful baby girls!

No, I didn't tell her stand this way... Such a diva!

Maggie thought these bears were pretty cool- They were just her size and could even wear her hat!

Waving to the "charlie" (trolley) that was passing by!

This bear was her favorite because he had a necklace (uh... a pricetag!)

Happy "Bee" Day, Lucy Elizabeth!

First, let me apologize for taking SOOOOO long to post Lucy's "bee"- day party pictures. I guess I never realized just how many "followers" we had until I take too long to post something! Yeesh, people! Anyway- we were blessed with a gorgeous day - at least until the last guests were leaving, we were packing up the last of the chairs, and the sky let loose! Holy rainstorm!

Good food, great friends and family, AWESOME cake (if I do say so myself...) and SUPER presents! What more can a one year old little girl ask for?
THE cake- Yup, made (with lots of love) by Momma.
Here is is again!

Our little bumble bee with her "bee day" cake!

Mmmm... cake!

What are you lookin' at? Lucy takes her cake eating VERY seriously....

Yay! Cake!

Not too messy.....

Check out Lucy's super cute Bumble bee hat (and necklace!) from "Grandma" Gale!

Maggie- quite the partier!

Presents!

Papa partied a little hard....

Happy Birthday, Lucy Elizabeth!

On Friday, June 4, our baby girl turned 1! It didn't seem that long ago that I was announcing my pregnancy or blogging about her being born... I guess I know now what all those little old ladies meant when they rubbed my pregant belly and told me to "enjoy it because it goes so fast." For some reason, it has seemed to go even faster with #2! (tear....)
Last night as a "baby!" Welcome "toddler-hood!"

What a clown! (Daddy was holding her upside down to make her smile!)

What better way to spend a birthday? Rocking and relaxing on Gramma's porch!

Lovin' it!

Out to supper

Oooh! Presents!

We got home from supper a little late on Friday night. Saturday was a CRAAAAZY day, so we finally got around to Lucy's birthday cake after supper on Sunday. She loved it, of course! It was great practice for the BIG cake she will get to eat with all her guests at her birthday party this weekend. Pictures to come!

Papa took this picture of Lucy's feet. This is how she sits in her highchair.

Mmmm.... cake!

Our Little Ballerina!

For the past year, Maggie has been asking to take ballet lessons.... We had to wait until she was 3, so after many phone calls this spring, we finally found a dance class for her. It's an hour a week and she gets to work on ballet, jazz, and tap moves. This past Wednesday was her first class... and to say she was a little excited might just be the understatement of the century!

Dressed and ready to go!
After class: a short recap of what she learned in ballet....

...and tap, too!

Today at school, Lucy got to celebrate her birthday with her friends (and cupcakes!) Her teachers were great enough to take pictures to share...

LIttle Genius!

Recently, Maggie has become OBSESSED with letters, numbers, "reading" signs, etc. The teacher in me is THRILLED! At night, after Lucy goes to bed, Maggie does her "homework" (her word, not mine!) while I grade papers and stuff for school. We started with the letter "M" but Maggie soon grew bored with that! The other night, she said "help me with the g's, mom!" And this is what she did....
This is another one she started, but ran out of room...so she added the "ie" to the front. Why not?
Last night, she drew a picture of me. She wanted to write my name on it. I dictated "mom" and this is what we got! Pretty impressive!
And this one, by far, is my favorite. While I paid some bills, Maggie was hard at work. When I asked what she was working on, she said "I drew a picture of dad for his work!" Look closely. See the goatee? And big eyes? It's his glasses. Awesome.
