WI State Fair

In all the craziness that was the month of August, we did manage to find a day to meet up with a group of friends to spend a day at the Wisconsin State Fair. It was SUPER hot- but we had a blast! 5 adults, 8 kids, one pregnant belly, 4 strollers, and 100 degree weather....what more could you ask for?
Maggie and her friend, Ryan
(PS: Ryan's mommy insists they could be siblings.... if Maggie ever goes missing, I'm headed to Lindsay's house first!)
Lucy, cooling off
"Grandma Gale" giving Lucy a taste of the famous cream puffs!

Great America

The first week of August, Mom, Dad, Maggie, Ant Jood, Gary, and cousins Emme and Davan spent the day at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL. It was a really fun day- and the girls had such a great time- riding all the rides and somehow managing to get super wet in the process. Maggie's favorite part was "the pirate ship" ride.... She got to ride twice with Gary and Emme!

First stop- the carousel, of course!

This ride was a little scary for Gary!

Davan on her horse

Next stop? The hot air balloons with Ant Jood!

Queen Margaret!

SOAKING wet after the infamous "Pirate Ride!"

The 3 Musketeers!

The "Not-So-Giant Drop!"

Whee!

Gary was such a good sport!

A Little Behind....

Where in the heck did August go? Aghhhh!

I realize (thanks to our MANY followers who like to frequently remind me that I am behind on blog postings!) that nearly the entire month of August has passed without any blog updates. Let me explain:
Mid-July: Mom teaching summer school. Attending a week-long training conference in Milwaukee. Lots of driving back and forth. Aunt Laura's wedding shower in MN... more driving. Grandma has surgery.
End of July: Grandma has complications from surgery. Admitted to the hospital (in Milwaukee) for a week-long stay. Even more time spent driving.
Early August: Um. Cleaning, laundry, and other misc that was neglected the entire month of July. Oh, and a day trip to Great America and a weekend-long rummage sale.
Mid-August: Auntie Laura gets married in MN. FUN weekend (see separate blog post for photos- coming soon!) Oh, and more time driving.
Late August: Papa Charlie retires! Throw huge SURPRISE retirement party on Saturday. (photos from the party coming soon, too!) Return to school for inservice on Monday. Remember that training conference back in July? Now Mom is responsible for 8 hour training sessions both Monday and Tuesday. Yay.
Today: 1st day of school. 2nd to last day of August. Time to blog, I guess!
